Description:
The Bagru Blue Jacket is made using hand stitched bagru kantha blankets from the 1950s. Designed to be oversize with a comfort fit, the jacket features an all round shawl collar and patch pockets on one side. A season-less and genderless piece, wear it with a jumper or knitwear of your choice for cooler weather and ditch the layers through spring summer. One size fits most.
About the craft: Kantha embroidery is one of the oldest forms of embroidery from India. It is said to have first originated in rural villages of Bengal where women used it to strengthen old fabrics such as sarees and lungis. Recycling at its best!
Bagru hand block printing is a natural printing method over 400 years old. All dyeing and mordanting ingredients are derived from nature.
About the fabric: We have used vintage kantha blankets for this collection sourced from Jodhpur, India. A mid weight fabric with a soft aged feel, certain parts may feature fraying which connects you to the unique story behind each jacket. Each piece is one of a kind and is uniquely yours. Wear it proudly and treat it with care so it can be with you for many years to come.
Note:
We travel to remote parts of India to discover and learn about heritage craft skills and textiles. We work with vintage, deadstock and craft led materials. Therefore, slight irregularities are the natural outcome of the process and are not faults. They connect you to the process and story behind each piece.
