Material: 100% Up-cycled Cotton.

Speciality: Repurposing Kantha blankets + suzani embroidery.

Origin: Rajasthan, India.

This unique zero waste piece is elevated with embroidery on a hand stitched vintage kantha blanket.  A regular fit jacket with enough room for layering, it comes with a hand block printed cotton lining and side pockets.  The embroidery is done using cotton & wool. A season-less and genderless piece, our jackets will elevate any outfit.  Due to the nature of the fabric no two jackets will ever be exactly the same in pattern placement and colours. Please refer to the Fit Tip before ordering.  The model is a UK 6-8 | 167 cm tall and is wearing the S-M size.

About the craft: Hand stitched kantha base with Suzani embroidery. Kantha embroidery is one of the oldest forms of embroidery from India. It is said to have first originated in rural villages of Bengal where women used it to strengthen old fabrics such as sarees and lungis. Recycling at its best! Suzani is an embroidered  tribal textile that was traditionally used as decorative pieces and as dowry in Central Asian countries. The craft soon reached North India through trade routes where various forms of it are still practiced today.

About the fabric: A light - mid weight vintage hand stitched kantha blanket with delicate embroidery on top. The vintage base fabric may have subtle fraying which reveals the underlying layers resulting in the most unique piece of art that you get to wear.  Treat it with care so it can be with you for many years to come.

We travel to remote parts of India to discover and learn about craft skills and textiles. We work with vintage, dead-stock and handcrafted materials. Therefore, slight irregularities are the natural outcome of the process and are not faults. They connect you to the process and story behind each piece.
