Description:
The Kantha Suzani Jacket is made using deadstock vintage kantha embroidered bed covers sourced from a small family run atelier in Jaipur, India. A straight fit jacket, it comes with an open front featuring a mandarin collar. Comes without a lining to reveal the pattern from the embroidery on the inside. The embroidery is done using cotton & wool. A season-less and genderless piece, wear it with a jumper or knitwear of your choice for cooler weather and ditch the layers through spring summer. Areas are fraying are present which is a natural outcome of the ageing fabric.
About the craft: Suzani is an embroidered tribal textile that was traditionally used as decorative pieces and as dowry in Central Asian countries. The craft soon reached North India through trade routes where various forms of it are still practiced today.
About the fabric: We have used vintage Indian Suzani Kantha bed covers sourced from Rajasthan. A light weight fabric with wool and cotton embroidery done on sewing machines, each piece is one of a kind and is uniquely yours. Wear it proudly and treat it with care so it can be with you for many years to come.
Note:
We travel to remote parts of India to discover and learn about craft skills and textiles. We work with vintage, dead-stock and craft led materials. Therefore, slight irregularities are the natural outcome of the process and are not faults. They connect you to the process and story behind each piece.
