Description:
Hara Kantha Suzani Jacket is made using dead-stock vintage kantha embroidered bed covers sourced from a small family run atelier in Jaipur, India. A straight fit jacket, it comes with a front zip buttons and pockets. The embroidery is done using cotton & wool. Cosy and oversized, it comes with a pure cotton block printed lining. A season-less and genderless piece, wear it with a jumper or knitwear of your choice for cooler weather and ditch the layers through spring summer. Areas of fraying are present which is a natural outcome of the ageing fabric.
About the craft: Suzani is an embroidered tribal textile that was traditionally used as decorative pieces and as dowry in Central Asian countries. The craft soon reached North India through trade routes where various forms of it are still practiced today.
About the fabric: We have used vintage Indian Suzani Kantha bed covers sourced from Rajasthan. A mid weight fabric with wool and cotton embroidery done on sewing machines, each piece is one of a kind and is uniquely yours. Wear it proudly and treat it with care so it can be with you for many years to come.
Note:
We travel to remote parts of India to discover and learn about craft skills and textiles. We work with vintage, dead-stock and craft led materials. Therefore, slight irregularities are the natural outcome of the process and are not faults. They connect you to the process and story behind each piece.
