Introducing

The Founders

Mishé was founded by the mother-daughter duo of Minakshi and Bhumika Ahluwalia in 2018. Bhumika studied design at Parsons School of Design, New York where she was introduced to sustainability, while her mother, Minakshi, always had a keen eye for design and fabrics. The duo draws their inspiration from local crafts and skills they discover on their travels across India.

Crafted in Thane, Maharashtra

Meet the Makers

The brand is crafted in Thane, Maharashtra, where a core team of 6 members produce the final designs. Salaudin Masterji does the patternmaking while Salim and Istiyak are the tailors. Sandhya and Savita, the didis (elder sisters), are the heads of the finishing and small-hand embroidery department, while Shaqeel is the embroiderer.

The Process

The brand sources fabrics made by different clusters of weavers across India, mostly West Bengal and some from the outskirts of Delhi. The design process usually takes 6 months followed by sampling and the final production of the garment.

Standards

The Mishe team is like a family, and provides equal opportunity for men and women alike. The brand uses fabric made from natural sources such as banana, organic cotton and orange peel while also using recycled cotton in some collections.
