Label in Focus

Crow is a reflection of functionality, hope for the environment and inclusive communities. Their objective is to design clothing that gives extra comfort, using the finest quality handwoven textiles. Each garment is a culmination of an empathetic partnership between designer, artisan and the "karigar".

The Founders

Shaila Khubchandani graduated from Istituti Callegari and launched Crow in 2011. She believes in creating fashion and luxury in line with sustainability, something she does by ensuring the use of organic cotton in her collection, which is beneficial to both the environment and the livelihood of farmers. Harbouring the community and natural resources has been one of the core values that runs through each step of the collection’s lifecycle.

Crafted in Gujarat

Meet the Makers

Crow is made up of a core team of 25 young, enthusiastic and fun members who work out of their studio in Gujarat, India. Most of their “karigars” or makers have worked with them for over 5 years while some have been around for as many as 13 years. It’s a testament to the working conditions at Crow, which the brand takes very seriously.

The Process

The textiles are designed by the brand, which are then hand-woven in different regions of India; following this the garments are carefully stitched by a bespoke team of "karigars" or makers in their studio in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. There is thought put into every stage of the making. The weaver, supplier, manufacturer, the team of “karigars” and designers work together to give birth to a garment that reflects both our vision and ethical hindsight.

The brand ensures that everyone involved in the production processes is treated with respect and is paid a deserved wage. It uses 100% handloom fabric in its collections while working with NGOs and clusters of artisans in their effort to sustain the traditional weaving techniques of India.
